Alam Ki Khabar: The United States has carried out fresh strikes on Iranian military sites, while tensions over the Strait of Hormuz continue to rise. Read the full report on the latest developments and global reactions.

Washington D.C., July 14.Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified further as the US military carried out another round of airstrikes on multiple Iranian military installations. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was conducted under the direction of President Donald Trump with the objective of weakening Iran's missile, drone and maritime surveillance capabilities. The US military stated that the action was intended to enhance security for commercial vessels passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, the targeted sites were linked to Iran's military infrastructure and were selected to reduce its operational capabilities in the region. Iranian media, however, reported explosions in several locations, including Bandar Abbas, Kish Island, Jam in Bushehr Province and Qeshm Island, following the strikes. President Donald Trump indicated that military operations could continue over the coming weeks and warned that additional strategic locations could be targeted if necessary. Meanwhile, the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz has further escalated. The US announced renewed maritime restrictions against Iran in the region, while also proposing security-related charges for commercial shipping using the route. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical energy corridors, through which nearly one-fifth of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas supplies are transported. Iran rejected the US position, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) maintaining that the Strait falls within Iran's jurisdiction and describing American actions as unlawful. The exchange of statements has further heightened concerns over regional stability. Amid the growing tensions, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and pursue diplomatic dialogue. He warned that any further escalation could have serious consequences for regional and global security. International observers continue to monitor the situation closely as fears grow over the potential impact on energy markets, global shipping routes and geopolitical stability.

Editorial: Diplomacy remains the only sustainable solution

Escalating military confrontations in the Middle East carry consequences far beyond the region. Any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could affect global energy supplies and economic stability. While nations have the right to protect their security interests, lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, dialogue and adherence to international law.
